FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — 4 members of a household from Washington state have been killed and three have been injured in a crash on Interstate 5 in central California, authorities stated Thursday.
All seven victims have been in a Chrysler minivan when it struck a giant rig parked on the shoulder Wednesday morning close to Fresno, in keeping with California Freeway Patrol Officer Rory Marks.
A lot of the correct aspect of the van was sheered off and 4 of the passengers have been ejected, Marks stated.
The freeway patrol stated these killed have been 43-year-old Lute Katalina Fekitoa, 25-year-old Naomi Prepare dinner, and two kids — a 13-year-old boy and 9-year-old woman. The minivan’s driver, 52-year-old Maikolo Fekitoa, was injured together with 37-year-old Henry Prepare dinner and an 11-year-old woman, officers stated. The youngsters’s names haven’t been made public.
The three survivors suffered main accidents, the freeway patrol stated.
The Fresno Bee reported that the Fekitoas are from Auburn and the remainder are from Edmonds, each cities in Washington.
Investigators will attempt to decide why the massive rig was parked on the shoulder and why the minivan veered out of lanes.
The southbound aspect of the freeway was shut for about six hours after the collision.
