Football: Watertown helps playoff cause, Waverly-South Shore snaps 20-game skid

Watertown defeated Spearfish 26-7 at Watertown Stadium on Friday to likely qualify for the state Class 11AA playoffs.

Spearfish's Seth Hamilton ran 14 yards with 31 seconds remaining after completing 14 of 34 passes for 220 yards.

Himmerich, a sophomore making his first varsity start, completed six of 13 throws for 108 yards, three to Jesse Werner for 84. Hudson ran 23 times for 86 yards.

Troy Kneeland and Cody Thompson helped Waverly-South Shore end its 20-game losing streak beginning Sept. 11, 2020.

Kneeland contributed five touchdowns and a safety. He rushed, recovered a fumble, and threw for three touchdowns.

Krog ran 21 times for 186 yards and a 19-yard TD and tossed for 126 yards and three touchdowns. A 13-yard TD throw went to Tanner Stein.
